The Mixolydian mode is the fifth mode of the major scale. This major scale differs from the other two (Ionian and Lydian) by its seventh minor (its characteristic note). It will therefore be used in a dominant seventh chord context, blues grids, and a Mixolydian grid. It can also be used on a major chord, in a dominant seventh context, or on a 7 suspended chord.
